#1

sometime in your life, i hope you're lucky enough to meet others who makes you believe you are a good, gracious, and generous person. it is not difficult to find such people. the only prerequisite is that you are ready to accept what they're about to give.

there is much to be said about the friendship of old men. in their old age they get sentimental and lonely, and young women with the future dangling from their liverspot-free hands seem just that: hopeful and fresh. meanwhile the object of their fondness might be in the throes of a fit, fighting hard to maintain her idealism in the face of so many missteps and false starts.

the main thing i'm concerned about is this: fighting bitterness and the paranoid tendency to watch my back when all i have around me is the soft cushion of friends and family. that, and falling into a sense of complacency and brainrot. i want to be brave, and a heroine, but it's hard to prove my strength when i don't have an opponent.
